World Of Warcraft????????

world of warcraft
Spidey Bert asked:

All my friends play World of Warcraft and I have been wanting to play also except my computer is a piece of junk. I want to know what features could help me on a new computer such video cards and such. I sort of want to keep my budget under 1600$ (US). I want a computer that can play world of warcraft well and also RTS games at a good graphic lvl.

    Hey there,

Really, if your budget is around $1600 USD, you should have no problem at all. I got my ENTIRE system, including wireless mouse + keyboard, 5.1 Logitech speakers, 19″ Widescreen Acer Monitor… the whole lot, for just $1500 CDN. It can haul ass.

If you’re looking for good, but cheap I recommend a good dual-core processor (Intel or AMD) running above 2 GHz, 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM, try to stay away from companies like asus and ATi for the graphics cards, seeing as I and countless others have had a lot of problems with them. I learned my lesson with my ATi Radeon x1650 a while ago. Get 512 MB of video memory (at least), seeing as your games are graphics-intensive. I’d say go with a 500 GB HDD for your files (might I recommend Seagate), Top it off with a nice case, a good LG DVD burner (with lightscribe if you wish), at least a 19″ LCD screen (Acer’s are relatively cheap, but pretty good quality). Wireless keyboard and LASER mouse, 5.1 surround sound speaker system (the x-540 system from Logitech is pretty nice), A creative labs sound card, I’m guessing a nice pair of headphones with a microphone, Vista Ultimate x64-bit edition, and that’s about it.

The only thing I think I left out was the motherboard. Go ASUS for that one I guess, I haven’t had any problems with ASUS mb’s before.

If you’re looking to buy something pre-made, go to futureshop or best-buy, and just buy a hp desktop with around the same specs, it’ll cost you $1000, and they have quad-core processors.

    Happy gaming,
    Casey

World of Warcraft will run on a toaster. The lowest compuer I ran it on was a Celeron 1.8 with 256k of RAM with a Geforce 4400. I turned all the options down and still got almost 30 fps. Anything you buy at the store will run it 3 times faster then that.

Hee hee hee…. *will run on a toaster…..* Too funny…
Actually, are you fishing or what? For 1,600 bones, you can build a uber death system complete with laser light shows. Heres the deal. You need a fast broadband connection. Thats more important than the hardware believe it or not. THEN, muscle up with a serious CPU and video card. Kick in some high grade ram- then get on-line. You can buy a big box name PC ready to roll for a pittance. Get a refurb from Tigerdirect and add moniter, and stuff and take the leftover 700 bucks and buy yourself a panda to watch yer back on WoW!

for 1600 you should have no problem finding a pc that can run WOW. I prefer raidon video cards to geforce(have never been able to get geforce to actually work) (at least 64mb memory on the video card), 1+ gig of memory, and a decent internet connection. the computers that are out today have processors that should have no problem with playing WOW.
