world of warcraft
MidnaX asked:

I’m just wondering, is there a difference between Warcraft and World of Warcraft? Because, my dad bought a Battle Chest that has “Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos”, “Warcraft III: Frozen Throne” and two guides for those games in it.
I was watching him play and I thought it was the same as World of Warcraft but the graphics are a lot different. In Warcraft III, the graphics are all birds eye viewish and a little bit cartoonish and in WoW, it looks a lot more realistic and it’s not birds eye view.
In his game, I saw that he was building stuff and I remember playing WoW with my friend at her house a long time ago, and you were killing dragons and stuff.
He says he has Warcraft III online but he didn’t pay anything. Do you have to pay to get online with Warcraft III?
So, is there a difference between them?
I don’t know, I’m really confused..

Oh and in WoW, can you play it just single player or do you HAVE to get online? I’ve just been wondering that, too.

    World of Warcraft: Strictly online
The other Warcrafts: All single-player, non-online games

    LOL

Warcraft 3 is a RTS (real time strategy game) and it is one of the best. It has the ability to play online multiplayer for free. World of Warcraft is a MMORPG and is strictly online, a 15 per month fee is required.

You can download a free trial at

They are different games, World of Warcraft is online multiplayer its more like runescape an rpg/adventure game and Warcraft 3 is a strategy game, like starcraft or age of empires, you do not need to pay to play online with warcraft 3 but you do need to pay for WoW. I hope this helps

The two are very different. In Warcraft 3 you control a whole army of guys and you essentially have a single objective. You don’t need to get online to play Warcraft 3.

WoW is an MMORPG – massively multiplayer online role playing game. You have to pay a monthly subscription fee to play, and you cannot play without connecting to the servers. You can play by yourself – that is to say, without a group – but a lot of the content, especially in end-game, is designed for groups of players. It’s as much a social experience as it is a video game.

Warcraft is the name of that fantasy world (like Star Wars). Warcraft III is a game from that world, as is World of Warcraft. Warcraft III is a strategy game you play by yourself, off-line, with no subscription fee. WoW is a MMORPG that you play with other people, always on-line, with a monthly subscription fee. You must play WoW online.

“Warcraft” usually refers to the entire legendarium of Warcraft lore – the books, movies, all the games, etc.

As for the games, all the Warcraft games except for WoW are RTS (strategy) games, while WoW is a RPG (role-playing game). And yes, WoW has to be online.
