C.J. C asked:

I just recently updated my account from being trial to just regular World of Warcraft with no Burning Crusade. Just a mer 20 hours its been enabled. Then for no apparent reason Blizzard just disabled my account. I didn’t do anything wrong in 20 hours. This just happened after my level 34 warrior got deleted with over 200g. So frankly I am pretty pissed off.

If there was a problem they should have sent you some kind of e-mail.

I have a few questions for you:
-Does anyone else have your account information?
-Did you buy gold or powerleveling services, even when you were using your trial account?
-Have you been browsing sites that offer gold buying, powerleveling, or similar services?

It’s entirely possible for you to have used your 10-day trial, and gotten to 34 and upgraded to Burning Crusade. I’ve seen people level to 34 in a weekend (and yes, they were insane).

My real issue is, maybe you weren’t doing anything wrong “in those 20 hours” but perhaps you did before (during your trial), or someone else had access to your account. They could have logged you in and spammed trade, been completely out of line in general chat, or broken some other rule.

In any case– whether you’ve been hacked, or it’s a glitch, Blizzard would have sent you an email to the account you signed up with, informing you of your suspension or ban.

If no reason was listed, and you want more information, contact Customer Service, and remember that a little courtesy goes a long way. Keep your cool and explain the situation. They can help, but being nice encourages them.

If you have been visiting websites for powerleveling or gold buying, I’d also scan your computer for viruses, bots and spyware. You can pick up nasty stuff from browsing the web these days. And if you didn’t delete your warrior, someone else did.

Run a scan on your computer using more than 1 type of removal tool. Clean up your computer, remove all spyware, virii and bots, and start over by asking for hack assistance from Blizzard.

It definitely sounds like someone else had access to your account. I recommend that you get your account and computer in order.

Best of luck, and switch over to Firefox with NoScript (addon). Use it diligently and don’t be another victim!

If you had a power-leveling service level up your character, and this service is located at a destination far from where you currently reside and login to your account, Blizzard will suspend your account for improper use. Also, power-leveling services require that you give them your password, this also can jeopardize your account. Blizzard can detect these things.

Purchasing gold from a reputable supplier will not cause your account to be in jeopardy, they do not have your login.

If you visited a website that you clicked on an unknown link within that site, you can have been keylogged from that link, which means someone was able to get your login and sign on as you, take your money and items. This will also raise a red flag to Blizzard, and they will suspend your account because it is your responsibility to secure your account.

I recently had my account keylogged from going to the World of Warcraft forum where people chat. Apparently, I clicked on a link someone posted for everyone to look at, and from there I was keylogged when I next logged into my WOW account. I have a level 66 Warrior and all my items in my bags and bank were stolen, as well as all my gold. By contacting a GM in-game, the GM was able to restore most items, but not the gold. They do a 1 week investigation and the gold was then restored by mailing to me ingame.

Blizzard released 2 weeks ago a new gadget called the “Blizzard Authenticator” for $6.50 which is a small device on a keychain that adds 1 extra layer of security that cannot be keylogged. It is connected to your account. Unfortunately, the item sold out within days and has not been back iin stock, I keep checking:
    ———————————————–
Protect your World of Warcraft account with industry leading account security – introducing the Blizzard Authenticator! The Blizzard Authenticator is designed as a supplemental authentication method for your World of Warcraft account, giving you the security of Two-Factor authentication. Each time you log in using the Blizzard Authenticator you are provided with a unique, one-time use password to use in addition to your regular password. Log in with both and you can rest easy knowing that your account is now even more secure from malicious attacks such as keyloggers and trojans.

Simple and easy to use – press one button to display the digital code. Setup of the token is simple and takes only a few minutes.
Small and convenient – take your token to wherever you play World of Warcraft and know that your account is secure.
Tough and durable – lasts for years and replacement is easy.
Provides for the highest account security available in the game industry today.
