I’m thinking of upgrading my dell inspiron 1520 laptop (no gx upgrades just the basic chipset) so I can play wow a little faster, currently I get about 25fps average but drops in high areas, how much difference will 4gb ram make?

Upgrading RAM will definitely increase system performance, but graphics performance depend entirely on the graphics card. Those that are soldered onto the circuit board utilizes RAM, If you have a 512MB on-board graphics card and 1GB (1024MB) of RAM, what the system has available for other resources is 512MB. If the majority of available RAM is used up by other resources, you will see a decline in system performance.

wow
it wont make the graphics any better, but it should have a significant impact on your fps, you should easliy be able to gain around 10fps.

The jump from 1GB to 2GB in WoW was a big difference for me, but the jump from 2 to 4 is really not that much. Anything over 2 is only good if you run more than one instance of a game, or do lots of multi-tasking.
