He likes american and italian. What is something that even an idiot like myself can pull together. I would really like to wow him as I typically just make us sandwitches, soup, and sides like cottage cheese or cheese and crackers. I want to make him a real meal for once. He truely deserves it. Problem is, I have stove top handicapped.

Bone-in Rib Eye Steaks (choice grade or better if you can get them), Charbroiled (Broiled if you don’t have a grill).
Take them out of the fridge one hour before you cook them.
Salt and freshly ground pepper (preferably a “gourmet blend” or melange) on both sides.
Let set out at room temperature at least 1/2 hour but preferably one hour before cooking.
Cook over hot coals or high heat on a preheated gas grill or broil as close to the flame/element as they will fit.
Cook about 4 minutes per side for medium rare or 5 for medium. Please do NOT cook these lovely steaks more than medium.
Serve with baked or garlic mashed potatoes, mixed green salad and steamed asparagus.

Here’s a fun thing I like to do – I like eating pancakes with sausage and stuff for dinner. You can make it on a griddle – it’s one giant pan. Put everything there and you’re cooking.

I personally would not try to make him anything Italian especially if his mom makes him Italian food. Better yet you could go to her if you are close and ask for her assistance. If that is not an option, check out Kraft foods online. They have a lot of easy recipes. Don’t worry about it being a simple dish, your presentation is what will make the difference.

This is super easy. Just about everyone loves ribs and this is a recipe that tastes like you spent a lot of time and effort on it. You’ll get raves! (the wow)
CUT ribs (3 to 4 pounds) into serving pieces. Place ribs in saucepot. Cover with water. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 30 min. Drain.
MIX 1 can (10 1/4 oz.) Campbell’s® Beef Gravy, 3/4 cup barbecue sauce and 2 TBSP packed brown sugar
in large bowl. Add ribs. Toss gently to coat.
Then, you can grill them or cook in 375 oven for 20mins. Turn once at 10min and baste. (Oven- line sheet/rack with foil for easy clean-up)
If you want additional flavor, add ¼ teas cayenne and 2 teas chili powder to the sauce.
You can use either beef or pork ribs. Most people prefer pork. Just pick up some coleslaw or potato salad from the deli. Or Ore-Ida has frozen mashed potatoes you can make in the microwave – super easy. Boil some corn on the cob or fix another veggie and you’ve got a complete meal. I’d pick up dessert at a bakery!
Another wonderful dinner is lasagna from the Dinner Doctor. It only has 5 or 6 ingredients and I swear it’s one the best lasagna’s I’ve ever had. This is from the same author as the Cake Mix Doctor. If you’re starting to cook – I’d definitely recommend the Dinner Doctor. She uses prepared items, canned/frozen items and I’ve made most of everything in the book and they are all REALLY good. Good luck.

Get some ribs and stick them in a crock pot on low with some BBQ sauce. Let them cook for about 6 hours on low heat. Then they will be very tasty and wonderfully tender.
Serve with a baked potato (take a potato poke a few holes in it and microwave for 7 min or until soft), open a bag of frozen corn and pour in a bowl add a couple pats of butter and microwave. Go to the refrigerated section at the store and pick up some biscuits in a tube and follow the directions on the package. You can add salad on the side if you like!

Cheesy Chicken Pasta.
Chicken.
Poach your chicken pieces in some stock and set aside, until cool enough to handle, and de-bone.
Pasta.
Place in salted boiling water and cook until you get the degree of cooking you like.
Penne or Elbows will do very well here.
Sauce.
Make a normal white sauce and add some grated tasty cheese, remove from heat and stir until it is smooth.
Combine everything and place in an oven proof dish, sprinkle with more cheese and bake until it is bubbling and the cheese has melted and started to brown.

This recipe is really easy.
CAROL’S STOVE-TOP HAMBURGER PIE
1 -1/2 lbs. hamburger
1 can cut green beans, drained
1 can tomato soup OR beef gravy
1 onion, shopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 can water
Hot mashed potatoes
Saute onion and brown hamburger in a skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Stir well. Add green beans and tomato soup. Stir well. Add water and cook 4-5 minutes more. Serve over hot mashed potatoes with a salad, biscuits and gelatin with whipped topping for dessert.
Or try the Easy Creamy Mushroom Alfredo:
QUICK & EASY CREAMY MUSHROOM ALFREDO
3 c. Rigatoni pasta
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
4 c. sliced fresh mushrooms (optional)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 pkg. cream cheese, cut into small cubes
2/3 c. milk
salt and pepper to taste
4 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley or 1/4 tsp. dried parsley
Cook pasta according to direction on the box. Drain. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the mushrooms and garlic. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to medium. Add cream cheese, milk and salt. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Toss the hot pasta, sauce, the parsley, and 2 tbsp. of the Parmesan cheese. Season with pepper. Place on a platter and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese. Serve with crusty bread and a salad and French Sillk Chocolate Pie for dessert. (Very easy to make, but looks like you baked all day.)
French Silk Chocolate Pie
1 ready-made pie crust
3 oz unsweetened chocolate, cut into pieces
1 cup butter, softened (do not use margarine)
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
Heat oven to 450°F. Make pie crust as directed on box for One-Crust Baked Shell using 9-inch glass pie pan. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. In 1-quart saucepan, melt chocolate over low heat; cool. In small bowl with electric mixer, beat butter on medium speed until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in cooled chocolate and vanilla until well blended. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating on high speed 2 minutes after each addition; beat until mixture is smooth and fluffy. Pour into cooled baked shell. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving. Garnish with whipped cream. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
Note: For the Hamburger Pie you can use a small can of mushrooms instead of the fresh, but be sure to drain them.

This is so simple. Get some chicken cutlets, marsala wine and sliced mushrooms. Flour the cutlets and saute them in a little butter until they are not pink, then add mushroons and saute them a little. Add some marsala wine and a little bit of flour to thicken up the sauce. (you can get the liquor store marsala wine or the kind that is sold in the supermarket) just let it simmer until the mushrooms soften up. The marsala wine will reduce a little bit as the alcohol cooks out of it, so just add a little more until you are happy with the amount of sauce. Just spoon the sauce over the cutlets and serve this with a veg and maybe a potato, rice or some bread and salad and he will love it! Enjoy.
